Overview

This piece tells the story of design evolution by bringing together two chapters in the Pelle Pelle story.

Built on a vintage Mark Buchanan leather bomber, the original leather was refinished in a custom gunmetal gray before layers of black, crimson, and cobalt paint were introduced from the shoulders, allowing gravity and the jacket’s own construction to shape the movement of every line.

The Bruiser artwork was carefully extracted from an authentic Pelle Pelle garment and reconstructed across the new surface, creating a dialogue between an earlier leather silhouette and one of the brand’s most recognizable designs.

 

Design Notes

Front Elevation

The front composition balances structure and iconography. Metallic blue leather cargo pockets establish visual weight across the lower half of the jacket, while the reconstructed Bruiser crest anchors the upper chest. The original center zipper remains uninterrupted, dividing the garment into two intentionally asymmetrical halves that reinforce its handcrafted nature.

Rear Elevation

The rear panel serves as the visual centerpiece.

The reconstructed Bruiser artwork spans nearly the entire width of the jacket, preserving the impact of the original design while introducing an entirely new environment beneath it. The custom gunmetal finish provides the foundation for cascading layers of black, crimson, and cobalt paint, each redirected by seams, folds, and panel transitions unique to this garment.

Left Profile

The oversized Pelle Pelle script extends from shoulder to cuff, creating the longest uninterrupted visual line on the piece. Rather than functioning as branding alone, the lettering becomes part of the composition, guiding the eye through the silhouette while contrasting against the organic movement of the painted surface.

Right Profile

Military-inspired insignia establish a structured rhythm along the sleeve before transitioning into the shark-mouth graphic near the forearm. Together, these elements introduce sharper geometry that contrasts with the fluidity of the paint treatment throughout the rest of the jacket.
